Reliable & Effective Healing Supplements
Supplements were very important to my UC healing. Constant bowel movements cause depletion of vitamins and minerals. From my experience supplementing with various vitamins and minerals was a game changer. Whenever I would search online for vitamins and supplements to help during a flare I would essentially find no helpful advice. Through various years of trial and error and thousands of hours of research I have found the following supplements essential for the UC healing process.
Vitamin C

High dosage Vitamin C was a game changer in my healing process. I was not aware that vitamin C fed bifidobacteria. This is the same bifidobacteria that is killed when you take antibiotics. For example, my UC flared each time I took antibiotics such as Doxycycline or Azithromycin. I was never cautioned that these antibiotics were harmful to the gut especially someone with UC or IBD.
Vitamin C, renowned for its immune-boosting properties, also plays a crucial role in supporting gut health, particularly through its interaction with bifidobacteria. These beneficial gut bacteria are essential for maintaining a healthy digestive system and a balanced microbiome.
Vitamin C enhances the growth and activity of bifidobacteria, which helps promote a diverse and robust gut microbiota. A thriving population of bifidobacteria supports digestion, improves nutrient absorption, and contributes to a healthy immune system by reducing inflammation and balancing gut flora.
Additionally, vitamin C’s antioxidant properties help protect the gut lining from oxidative stress, further supporting the growth of these beneficial bacteria. By including vitamin C-rich foods or supplements in your diet, you can foster a healthier gut environment and boost the beneficial effects of bifidobacteria. For optimal results, consult with a healthcare provider to tailor your vitamin C intake to your individual health needs.
My Vitamin C Dosage
I began taking a large dosage of vitamin C once I realized that Vitamin C was essential for repairing my gut. Therefore, I would take 10 of the Garden of Life Vitamin Code 500 mg supplements at a time. As a result, I noticed my bowel movements steadily improving while maintain a strict diet. This was an incredible development for me as my stool was finally becoming more normal looking and urgency was subsiding. The correlation was evident.
Vitamin D3 with K2

Vitamin D3 with K2 is essential for ulcerative colitis healing. Many people including myself are severely deficient in vitamin D3. A severe depletion in vitamin D3 leads to an increase in the incidence of ulcerative colitis and other autoimmune conditions according to studies. It is essential to get a Vitamin D3 supplement with K2 to help with calicification (link)
Vitamin D3, often called the “sunshine vitamin,” plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health. One of its primary benefits is supporting bone health by enhancing calcium absorption, which helps prevent osteoporosis and fractures. Additionally, vitamin D3 bolsters immune function, reducing the risk of infections and autoimmune diseases. Therefore, it also plays a role in mood regulation, with deficiencies linked to an increased risk of depression.
For those with limited sun exposure, vitamin D3 supplements are a vital way to maintain adequate levels. Regular intake supports cardiovascular health, muscle function, and can even improve cognitive function. Incorporating vitamin D3 into your daily routine ensures you’re optimizing your health and well-being. Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine the appropriate dosage for your needs. Embrace the benefits of vitamin D3 and take a proactive step towards a healthier you.
My Vitamin D Dosage
I’ve fully embraced the importance of high dosage Vitamin D3 with K2. Therefore, I use at least 40,000 to 50,000 iu of Vitamin D3/K2 each day. Coincidentally, I also pair active sunlight exposure to my supplement usage. There is no better raw vitamin D exposure than from the sun itself. It is imperative that when supplementing with vitamin D3/K2 that you take the supplement with a fatty meal to maximize absorption. For this reason, I recommend taking with a meal with avocado or salmon. These foods have a very high content of good fats that allow for max absorption of the vitamins.
Magnesium

It is essential to take Magnesium whenever you are taking high doses of Vitamin D3/K2 as magnesium levels can be quickly depleted. Therefore, I take 3 of the above pictured magnesium (citrate) pills each day.
For those managing ulcerative colitis, combining magnesium with vitamin D3 can offer significant benefits. Magnesium plays a crucial role in reducing inflammation and supporting healthy muscle function, which can alleviate cramping and discomfort associated with ulcerative colitis. It also supports overall digestive health, which is essential for maintaining balance in the gut.
Vitamin D3, on the other hand, enhances calcium absorption and supports immune function. For ulcerative colitis patients, maintaining optimal vitamin D3 levels can help regulate the immune system, potentially reducing flare-ups and improving overall symptom management.
Together, magnesium and vitamin D3 help address deficiencies that often accompany ulcerative colitis, supporting a more balanced and effective treatment plan. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting any new supplements to ensure they align with your specific needs and medical condition. Embrace the benefits of this powerful combination to aid in your journey towards better health.
